Cemeteries
Burials are facilitated by the township at all active cemeteries throughout the year. The Township Road Department is responsible for the maintenance of all cemeteries and burials located within the township limits. Additionally, the township is responsible for installing all foundations for headstone markers and will not be installed until one year after the burial date. Spotlight on Volunteers:
The Board of Trustees of Wayne Township acknowledges volunteers with appreciation, gratitude and respect.
Bruce Barricklow is a familiar face in our area. Always appearing with a smile and warm welcome, Bruce has been part of organizing improvement projects. In 2019, Bruce Barricklow assisted the Eagle Scout Project of Leo Burkhardt to remove an old dilapidated fence and clean up brush at the Woodville Cemetery. Bruce also organized a fundraising project for the purchase and installation of a White Vinyl Running Board Fence that parallels both sides of Lucas Road. May 1, 2021 Bruce Barricklow, Steve Ziegelmeyer and many volunteers organized a clean-up of brush in the old section of Woodville Cemetery, uncovering a Civil War Veteran headstone!
In 2021, Wayne Township graciously accepted the generous donation from Margaret Cannava, for the purchase and installation of an elegant aluminum fence for Edenton Cemetery, given in honor of her family.
